“When my time comes” – about depression and suicide

With what’s on the news since yesterday, people are discussing – or voicing opinions – all over the www about depression and suicide, once again. Lots claim the latter is selfish or coward or inconsiderate. Is it, really, though?

«Όλα θα πάνε καλά!»

Το καλό και το κακό δεν είναι δίπολο. Δεν είναι μεριές ενός εκκρεμούς. Δεν είναι ισόποσα. Η ζωή δεν έχει κάποιο νόημα ούτε κάποιον σκοπό. Το σύμπαν δε συνωμοτεί, το σύμπαν δεν είναι υποκείμενο. Όχι, τα πράγματα δε συμβαίνουν για κάποιον σκοπό. Τα πράγματα απλώς συμβαίνουν.

“Never give up”

Why? Why never give up? Even machines need to power off periodically. Even machines break down occasionally, and when they do, they don’t get repaired overnight. We are human. Why shouldn’t we be allowed to give up sometimes?

Υπήρχε μία σανίδα στην Ύδρα. Ήταν φόβος και τρόμος για τους ιστιοπλόους που έπρεπε να την περπατήσουν.
