Some more music

Link to first music post
Some Music

A few more songs among my favourites, since the first music post. None of the previous ones have fallen from grace or ever will, still love them the same. But guess it’s time for some additions

As said, I’m still mostly ok with my metal choices of the past, so here’s some non metal that’s stolen my heart [and further down some metal too, after all, for those who don’t listen to it and would maybe like to get some idea? Far from a comprehensive list].

So,

Spit it out, by IAMX, has found its place among my favourite songs. It’s just so affectionate [doesn't have drama, isn't mellow, just positive and considerate]. But not too fond of the music video version, so I’m posting the link here, to listen to the nice one 😋

Some more favourites by him
Mercy
Surrender
Avalanches
Turning Crimson
Wildest Wind
Lulled by Numbers
President
Kingdom of Welcome Addictions
Running

[and a couple of dancey for diversity, I come with Knives and North Star *]
And I’ll stop spamming him somewhere here.

His concert on the 14th of September in Athens was a close second to the Blind Guardian one (ancient history), it was an awesome surprise, didn’t expect to have so much fun at a concert anymore (had watched him before, abroad, wasn’t like this one). Non stop singing and dancing (like the BG one) ☺️

And I’ve got to add Moana

Where you are always makes me cry, and even if I manage to hold back the tears, it’s only till grandma starts singing. Can’t get away with grandma. A song to avoid while driving.

Got to mention
How Far I’ll Go
We Know the Way
(what am I saying, I cry throughout the first part of the movie..)
And check this version of You’reWelcome too
(And do watch the movie – top2 Disney along with Beauty and the Beast [also beautiful music], for me anyway)

Yep, pretty much made a whole new music post for one more artist and a cartoon OST :ρ

Very Honourable mention here, since we're talking OST, it just feels like a sacrilege not to mention The Last of the Mohicans, even though surely everyone knows it and loves it (right?)

But if I try to make a metal song music list, it’s gonna turn out too long.. Shall I try? Maybe a list for people who don’t listen to this music?

Of course the ones mentioned in the first post, the 2 all time favourites

My Dying Bride – Two Winters Only ❤ (the lyrics might be a bit cringey, but the music.. The Angel and the Dark River is a masterpiece of an album. Also check Like Gods of the Sun. It’s a shame to just list a couple more songs)
Manowar – Bridge of Death ❤ (first metal band I listened too, so if you didn’t first listen to them when you were in junior high of younger, maybe you’ll also find them cringe – and you can skip the narration, I do; sorry Manowar. It’s still my favourite. Also try Dark Avenger [in this one, I love it, but change the lyrics at some point to “r@ping the r@pists and pr1cks, in blood I take my payment, in full with their d1cks” - you’ll get why :ρ], Each Dawn I Die, Secret of Steel, Mountains, Burning, Hector’s Final Hour, Demon’s Whip, Blood of my Enemies, Blood of the Kings [was the first metal song I heard and hooked me] and I’ve got to stop somewhere)

Dimmu Borgir – Allehelgens Dod I Helveds Rike and The Heretic Hammer (seriously, listen to their whole albums, starting with Death Cult Armageddon [top 5 start-to-finish albums mentioned in the first post], then In Sorte Diaboli and Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia)

Opeth – Reverie-Harlequin Forest and Baying of the Hounds (ouf, choosing one or two is too hard, again, listen to their whole albums. Ghost Reveries [top 5 start-to-finish albums mentioned in the first post], Still Life, Blackwater Park, Watershed, Deliverance)

Gojira – Born in Winter (and may I have a few hours of the The Art of Dying intro on a loop?)

Tool – 10000 Days

Katatonia – Residual (The Fall of Hearts is yet one of the top 5 start-to-finish albums mentioned in the first post)

Erimha – Ascetic and Bewildering Nightmare (another top 5 start-to-finish albums mentioned in the first post, Reign Through Immortality)

Blind Guardian – When Sorrow Sang and Nightfall (just listen to the whole Nightfall in Middle Earth, one of the best metal albums. I don’t like europower – that’s a genre – but these guys have written beautiful songs. Ok, this one, I get PTSD even mentioning it, because I was listening to it before entering home and finding it ransacked and my stuff stolen, but try Mordred’s Song as well :> )

Queensryche – Roads to Madness and The Whisper and Screaming in Digital (and listen to the whole Rage for Order [except for the 4th song, can’t stand it and don’t want to even mention its name here :ρ] and Operation Mindcrime)

Korn – Way Too Far

System of a Down are quite mainstream, I guess, and you might have listened to them, but maybe try Spiders?

I like the song Ablaze by YOB, but can’t recommend anything else by them, I just like this one

[*some more dancey over here, even though I only like a couple of their songs too, Behemoth – Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer

I think that’s enough, can’t mention everything. Guess it’s a handy list – along with the first post – to give to someone asking for some suggestions to get an idea of metal

But to wrap up, I’ve GOT to mention the cover of Orgasmatron by Sepultura, because my grandma, when she listened to it while we were having lunch (back in -my- highschool) stood up and started dancing it as a traditional regional dance, saying all happy “this is ours!” ☺️ Such a fond memory, such a cool grandma – miss her..
